Project Overview | When Every Second Counts

Cape Coral emergency responders rely on WPCS

A crash with multiple injuries. A fire burning out of control. An armed robbery. A boating accident with victims in the water. From life-threatening emergencies to crimes-in-progress, a positive outcome often depends on how quickly and clearly communication is delivered to emergency responders. In Cape Coral, Florida, a city of 165,000 spread over 120 square miles of land and 400 miles of waterfront, protecting the public is a huge, and growing, challenge. With a reputation as the "Growth Engine of Southwest Florida," the city is experiencing a steady population boom that requires continual enhancements in police and fire department capabilities.

Today, when emergencies arise, police and fire departments are getting the call faster and more reliably than ever through an advanced wireless network designed and installed by WPCS. The system links Cape Coral's public safety headquarters with its ten police and fire stations, the city's Mobile Incident Command Vehicle, and with laptops in police cruisers. Additional capacity has been built in to the system to accommodate new locations as the city grows.
